The story of what is regarded as the greatest achievement in the history of marine salvage, the raising of the German fleet which was scuttled at Scapa Flow. The Germans sank their fleet on the 21st June 1919 after surrendering it to the British at the end of the First World War. In 1924 the engineer Ernest Cox with his scrap metal firm of Cox & Danks, which had never before lifted a ship bought the fleet and raised their first destroyer the V70 and eight years later having raised 26 destroyers , 4 battle cruisers, 2 battleships and a light cruiser ceased operations. |
